Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities. BBBS works to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

In the traditional one-to-one mentoring model, matches meet in the community. Spend a few hours with your Little each week during the evenings or on weekends. Go on community-based outings like exploring a nearby park, learning a new skill together, or helping your Little to achieve their goals

The Teen Employment Program is dedicated to empowering youth aged 14-17, with essential job training and employment opportunities to equip them for the realities of the workforce. Our program operates on a two-pronged approach aimed at fostering both practical employment skills and financial literacy.

  1. Youth Employment Support: Through the guidance of their Bigs and match support specialists, our team assists Littles in crafting effective resumes, identifying suitable job opportunities, and offering continuous support throughout the application and employment process. We collaborate with community partners including CAYIP to secure diverse employment prospects for our youth, ensuring they gain valuable work experience and build professional networks.

  2. Financial Literacy Component: Littles enrolled in this program engage in a comprehensive Financial Literacy Program designed to cultivate healthy financial management habits. Each participant receives a stipend to establish their personal bank account, laying the foundation for responsible financial practices. With the guidance of financial literacy experts, Littles undergo tailored instruction on budgeting, saving, and smart spending through our structured curriculum. Upon completion of the financial literacy curriculum, participants receive an additional stipend as a recognition of their commitment and achievement.

The Teen Employment Program strives to provide wrap around, comprehensive support, addressing both vocational and financial needs of the youth it serves. By empowering Littles with essential skills and resources, the program aims to catalyze positive transformations in their lives, fostering long-term success and self-sufficiency.
