The City of Charlottesville’s Community Attention Youth Internship Program (CAYIP) connects local teens with internship opportunities throughout the year. The program’s four goals include: Skill Development, Social Emotional Learning, Mentorship, Internship.
2026-2027 CAYIP School Year Sessions
Below is general program information regarding school year sessions for the 2026-2027 school year.

CAYIP ACADEMY is mandatory in order to participate. This is paid training/orientation to learn of program expectations, meet the counselor and what to expect prior to being on the job. Workplace readiness skills will be provided during this time.
Fall 2026 Session – September 14th- November 8th
- Application Submission Window: Thursday, August 20th – Friday, August 28th at 5pm.
- Interview Requests Begin: Wednesday, August 26th (Invites sent via email)
- Acceptance & Site Placement Notifications sent via email – on or before September 8th
- CAYIP Academy – Saturday, September 12th 9am-2pm (Mandatory- In Person)
- Meet and Greet : Week of September 14th
- On Site Work Experience – Week of September 14th – November 8th
